Fearing her to be dead, he commits suicide

Bylakuppe:  A man,  doubting his wife, allegedly stabbed her with a knife and fearing her to be dead he later committed suicide by hanging self at Muthina Mullusoge village in Periyapatna taluk on        Wednesday night.

The man who hanged himself is Prasanna (26), a resident of MuthinaMullusoge village and his wife, who has sustained stab injuries and being treated at Madikeri District Hospital is 22-year-old Shwetha.

Shwetha was working at a textile showroom in Kushalnagar and Prasanna was working at a private finance company. Both were residing in the house opposite to each other’s house in the village and were said to be in love.

After taking consent from their families, Prasanna and Shwetha got married in May 2022. Later, Prasanna doubting his wife, used to quarrel with her frequently. Their quarrel reached the Police Station and the Police along with village elders had advised them to lead a normal life.

With doubts rooted deep in his head, Prasanna had also gone to Shwetha’s place of work and had fought with her during which Kushalnagar Police had advised both of them, In the meantime, Prasanna stopped going to work and began to harass his wife frequently following which Bylakuppe Police had instructed Shwetha to stay in her parents’ house for three months and had warned Prasanna not to harass Shwetha, it is learnt.

On Wednesday night, Prasanna, who went to the house of Shwetha’s parents, asked her to come with him and when she refused, he pulled out a knife, allegedly stabbed her and fled from the spot.

Shwetha’s parents rushed their injured daughter to Kushalnagar Government Hospital and later admitted her to Madikeri District Hospital.

Fearing that his wife had died, Prasanna, who came to his house reportedly hanged himself.

Bylakuppe Sub-Inspector Malingaiah and staff, visited the spot, conducted an inspection and registered a case.
